Modern automobile data recording devices record up to 20 seconds of information before any crash. The data recorded can include whether the passengers of the car were wearing seatbelts, the car speed at any point in that 20 seconds, the acceleration of the car in that 20 seconds, the percent of the engine throttle and gas pedal, when the brakes were activated, when the antilock braking device was activated and more.

Why does the State of Indiana require that there be minimum insurance? As your Indiana Serious personal Injury lawyer, we see firsthand the kinds of harm car accidents can cause. It does not matter if the crash is a drunk driving accident or a highway accident. These harms, including brain injury, broken bones, spinal cord injuries resulting in paralysis or amputation, can interfere with any Hoosiers ability to earn a living and enjoy their life.

If you are a witness to someone being injured or are injured yourself it is important to get photographs or video of the scene of the injury at the time or as near the time of the event as possible.

A few days ago we wrote about the dangers of distracted driving.  In that discussion we talked about texting and driving.  Well, one of our own brought home the importance of the discussion yesterday. Lucas Harrison of Richmond just had to get that last text out.  He was driving his car in Richmond, and texting [...]

Often when someone is injured in a crash or by some other method as a result of someone’s negligence the insurance carrier for the party at fault will come in early and offer a small settlement in exchange for signing a “release”.  An injured person who signs the release gives up all of their rights [...]

Several months ago a teenager, leaving a party [...]

I was reading in the paper today about a hit and run collision which caused the wrongful death of one Hoosier and seriously injured another.  Apparently David Smith and Jason Pedigo were hit by a ford traveling east on Morris Street.  Mr. Smith was killed.  There is some indication that that two men were walking [...]

As Indiana serious injury lawyers, we tend to see dangers exposed that were not really obvious just before the injury occurs.  We represent seriously injured Hoosiers all over the state from our Indianapolis offices.  Over the last 57 years we have come to understand that safety does not necessarily meet the eye.  Take for instance [...]

#2 ALWAYS REPORT AN EVENT TO YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY This may seem contrary to your own best interest , however if you have been injured in a auto crash, construction accident or other event that leaves you with lost wages ,disabled , impaired or with other injuries it is best to make your insurance aware [...]

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words.  Often this is true, but not always.  Over many years in our practice as personal injury attorneys, we have been involved in a number of cases for people who have suffered spinal injuries, head injuries, broken bones etc. in car accidents where the [...]

Fellow Hoosiers, we have all been dealing with ice in new and unusual circumstances.  For the first time in my life I saw children playing hockey, with skates on my front yard.  We want to warn you all about an unexpected danger.  We are hearing reports that ice is being shed by semi tractor-trailers on [...]
